Galliard Folk Dancers
We are rehearsing and are available for bookings – indoors or outdoors
Galliard Folk Dancers are a group of English folk dancers from across Lancashire who perform a wide variety of English country dances, ranging from present day folk dances to older dances written as far back as the mid 1600s. Many are in the Playford style including those danced by Jane Austen, and now made famous by Miss Bennett and Mr Darcy in the Pride and Prejudice film.
We perform in costume at a variety of venues from local fetes, summer and Christmas fairs to international festivals such as Europeade representing England and Lancashire. Our costumes are in three styles: Regency costume, Victorian costume and 17th century Countryperson costume. (see About menu: Dance costumes)
We are available to perform at functions, workshops or events, across the North West of England, dancing in costume to suit your event. If you would like, we can include audience participation dances so you can join in or experience being Mr Darcy or Miss Elizabeth Bennett.
