Dance Costumes in use by Galliard Folk Dancers
We have three different costumes, each relates to a particular period in history. Having three different styles allows us to select one that is most appropriate for the particular location or event. For example, dancing at a stately home that would have been familiar to Jane Austen and her characters demands Regency style. Bridgerton characters wear similar costumes too.
For our performance at Astley Hall, Chorley, although the original building is 400 years old it has a Victorian walled garden and was hosting a Victorian themed event. Victorian costume was therefore most appropriate.
Country costume was the best choice for dancing at Speke Hall, a National Trust property originally built in 1530. The costume reflects the public perception of the buildings and interiors.
If you prefer a particular costume for your event, for example to fit a theme, this can be organised when booking us for the event.
