Dance Costumes in use by Galliard Folk Dancers

Galliard English Folk dancers have three different costumes, each relates to a particular period in history. Our Victorian costume is shown at the top of this page, followed by Country and then Regency.

Having three different styles of costume allows us to select the costume that is most appropriate for the particular event. For example the country costume was the best choice for dancing at Rufford Old Hall, a National Trust property originally built in 1530. The costume reflects the public perception of the buildings and interiors.

For our dance performance at Astley Hall, Chorley (top photo) the Victorian costume was most appropriate, although the original building is 400 years old it has a Victorian walled garden.

If you prefer a particular costume for your event, for example to fit a theme, this can be organised when booking us for the event.
